Background information

Wireless digital music systems create home audio environments with greater convenience than ever before, with new ways to store, organize, and access music. Our audio hub solutions allow you to deliver all this functionality and add even more features – enhancing the listening experience to a new level of appreciation.

With NXP’s audio hub, you can offer personalized music streaming for up to five wireless client devices located throughout the house, accessible from any client. Draw content from local storage, CD or PC and simultaneously stream up to five songs to different locations.

‘Follow Me’ enables music playback to follow the listener through the home, while broadcast – or ‘party’ mode means the same song is heard everywhere, fully synchronized. An optimized multimedia database ensures fast response in a multi-user environment.

Network-centric, the solution uses a modular, easily extendable messaging architecture, and distributed processing allows scalable systems performance. A wide variety of connectivity options are covered such as 802.11g and USB OTG 2.0 among others. Further functionality includes ATAPI and keypad interfaces, media ports, ATA HDD interface and much more.

Our audio hub solutions are based on the highly integrated digital audio processor PNX8706, running our own middleware. UPnP compliant, it is possible to share music on non-dedicated clients such as a DMA or PMP. Mini-PCI modules handle server / hub connectivity using our highly integrated BGW211 or standard 802.11b/g network modules, or they can be connected via industry-standard Ethernet.
